NAKED SALUTE; IF HARRY WAS AFRICAN?

TRIBUTE TO A PRINCE

several days have passed by since sun news took the naked picture of crown prince harry to the tabliod and they were so much querry about the question of his privacy, a question too rhetoric in this present age new media. the photos had already littered the internet as at the time it was publish, so not much was to be said of sun's revelation of a naked.
things however a dramatic turn when tens of thousands of briton from all over the world through their support for the prince, and no better way to show it than to post nude and post it on social media site. A FACEBOOK page sprang up and within 2 weeks had over 30, 000 memeber.
now my point is, were harry an african prince, will these not be termed barbaric? considering the fact that the british played a pivotal part in ensuring that monarchy in african becomes like a mere fantasy, or should an admirable artifact.

TAMBUWAL BLAST OBASANJO

Tambuwal on Obasanjo

Tambuwal on Obasanjo

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was not the main subject of Hon Aminu Tambuwal’s lecture last Wednesday in Kano, but the former president (1999-2007) received unsparing and uncomplimentary mention enough to merit strong headlines in the following day’s newspapers. In an exhaustive treatise delivered at the annual Mallam Aminu Kano memorial lecture, Tambuwal, who is Speaker of the House of Representatives, described Obasanjo’s government as a proponent of lawlessness. He went beyond just describing that government as lawless and arbitrary, he added that it also endangered the country’s democracy. He damned the Obasanjo presidency with faint praise for establishing various institutions to undergird democracy and good governance, and concluded that that government lacked the discipline to restrain its law enforcement agencies from mass killings in both Zaki Biam and Odi towns in Benue and Bayelsa States respectively.
Drawing on various sources, Tambuwal gave the following summary of the Obasanjo presidency and the Umaru Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan governments: “A closer examination of the actions and inactions of the government since 1999 shows that the rule of law has been relegated to a mere declaration in conformity with the ideological smokescreen of the government. An example of the strangulation of the rule of law is the failure in recognising and respecting the constitutional roles of the three main institutions of State namely the legislature, the executive and the Judiciary. The political imbroglio between the Lagos State government and Federal Government over the failure of the latter to remit funds allocated to local government councils in Lagos following the State Governor’s creation of some additional council is a case in point of bizarre executive lawlessness on the part of the executive arm of government in Nigeria. Despite the judgment of the Supreme Court on the matter, the federal government turned deaf ears to the ruling of the highest court in the land ordering the Lagos State to be given all the statutory allocations due to LG councils in the state. Indeed it was the late Yar’Adua regime in 2007 that enforced the Supreme Court ruling and ordered the immediate release of the funds to Lagos State amounting to N10.8 billion.”
The Tambuwal conclusion is not significant simply because he mourned the abject failure of Obasanjo and his successors to seize opportunities to consolidate democracy, or because he wanted the mass killings in Zaki Biam and Odi to be censured. It is in fact not clear that the Speaker saw any significance. What is significant is that the governments the Speaker spoke disapprovingly about were all produced by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He is, however, not the only one with such strident views of the ruling party, though he is a member of the party. But to hear him and others in the PDP speak forthrightly and dismissively of all the governments that have ruled Nigeria since 1999 gives the heartwarming impression that the process of party formation is just beginning. The political dividing lines are not yet cast in granite, and in the foreseeable future there will still be movements across party lines, with patriots sensibly ignoring party loyalties and structures in order to form and nurture alliances capable of rebuilding the country’s democracy.
Beyond the façade of one-party dominance of the polity, a façade PDP leaders said could continue for some 60 years, clearly discernible undercurrents of resentment against mediocre governance, executive arbitrariness, and mishandled economic reforms are being seen and felt. Tambuwal’s lecture, assuming it is the product of deep conviction rather than a mere academic exercise, indicates quite appropriately that substantial change is afoot, perhaps strong and copious enough to save the polity and engender growth and stability.

Liverpool striker, Luis Suarez bites Chelsea defender during match

Liverpool striker, Luis Suarez bites Chelsea defender during match

Lol. So Liverpool striker Luis Suarez today Sunday April 21st bit the arm of Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic during their Premier League match. The Uruguayan striker sank his teeth into the Serbian defender's arm after a tussle during the second half of the match. Suarez didn't get penalised for the bite because the referee didn't see it. He went on score the equalizing goal for Liverpool. He has since apologized for his actions, but I'm sure the English FA will still penalize him.

Follow Lisa on TwitterWhen I first heard about Twitter, I thought it was incredibly dumb. Who in the world would use this tool to tell people what they're doing every minute of the day?
Well, turns out... millions of people use it for that very reason.
Me, not so much.
I don't necessarily enjoy babbling about what I'm eating, watching on TV, thinking or feeling. However, I have enjoyed using it as a promotional tool for my sites and blog.

TwitterFeed

I first started using Twitter to announce my new blog posts. If you use Twitterfeed, this free service will automatically broadcast your latest blog posts to Twitter.
This was the only way I used Twitter for the first 9 months or so.
Then I kept reading more Twitter success stories from other Bloggers and Webmasters so I decided to tweet more to see if I could get similar results.

The Best Way to Use Twitter for Business

If you are using Twitter to promote your site or blog, I've found that the best way to use this service is to tweet about useful, relevant articles and helpful advice.
Hard selling can be a turn off. Twitter is not the place for that. An occasional promotional tweet here and there is not going to hurt you, but your number one goal should be to provide value.
For example, since my sites are about making money online, blogging, web design, etc. I tend to tweet about useful articles I'm reading that are related to my niche. I also announce my new videos and any other relevant projects I feel my followers may be interested in.
When you find the right tweet mix, your followers will appreciate it and they will often Re-Tweet your tweets to their followers and the viral magic begins.

Shocking Video: Nigerian lady raped and buried alive in Bonny Island

*Viewers discretion is highly advised*. This happened a while back in 2012, but it took me only until this morning to find the courage to watch the video. The girl was raped and buried alive by some men in Bonny Island, Rivers State. Fortunately their evil deed was uncovered by the Nigerian army. The video above shows the culprits and the JTF exhuming the corpse.

Massachusetts police are hunting for 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who they say was the second suspect in Monday's Boston Marathon bombing. Tsarnaev's older brother, Tamerlan, was killed in a shootout with police. The two suspects are of Chechen descent.
The FBI believes Tsarnaev could be driving a 4-door, green, 1999 Honda Civic with Massachusetts plates. Boston police have ordered residents to remain at home, as they continue to search for the suspect.
Numerous members of Tsarnaev's family have spoken to the media about the situation. His father, Anzor Tsarnaev, warned the US that "all hell would break loose" if his son was killed.
The FBI is questioning the suspects' sister, 22-year-old Ailina Tsarnaev. The woman told reporters that her brothers are "smart and great people" and that she "doesn't know what got into them."
Meanwhile, the suspects' uncle, Ruslan Tsarni, has pleaded for Tsarnaev "to turn himself in and ask for forgiveness," saying that he is "ashamed" of his family members, who he claims he has not seen in many years.
Earlier Friday, law enforcement cordoned off a two-block area in Watertown, Massachusetts - site of the deadly shootout between the suspects and police. Massachusetts state police said in a statement that "60-70% of Watertown has been covered, but the suspect has not been apprehended."
Nearby resident Firaz Gliel described the situation to RT.
"We were woken up at 3am by a reverse 911 call. The police told all the residents to stay put and not leave the house. Looking out of our window we saw masses of SWAT teams and police agents scouring all the backyards, bushes and streets.  There are helicopters. The police seem to have isolated one particular area. The police were looking and talking to the suspect through a megaphone – this is where we are right now," Gliel said.

"Everybody is tense. No one can leave their house, all the businesses around here are closed. And we had a bomb threat yesterday, and then the marathon explosion before, so everyone is jittery. Everyone is in shock that something like this could happen in a relatively safe place, but the community has pulled together. People are helping each other out. So, there are both positives and negatives to what is going on right now," Gliel said.
The firefight, which involved explosives, ensued after an MIT police officer was shot and killed on Friday morning, and fellow officers followed the lead of an apparent carjacking.
The killed suspect, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was wounded during the gun exchange with the police and was apprehended, police said. He later succumbed to the injuries.
The suspect remaining at large is the FBI’s Suspect 2 in the Boston Marathon bombing, the so-called ‘white hat suspect’. Police called the man a terrorist, who is armed and dangerous.
A 20-block perimeter was established as the manhunt for the second suspect continues.
Unconfirmed reports citing police dispatch say the dead suspect had explosives strapped to his person and that the one on the run may have a similar device.
Officials from the Beth Israel Hospital, where the wounded suspect was taken, say the man had gunshot wound and other injuries, likely sustained in an explosion. They didn't ID the diseased person.

"I have not found the right woman' - D'banj says

That's curious...because in his January interview with Toolz on Ndani TV, D'banj said he was happily dating a very special lady who has been with him for a while. Fast forward to his interview today with Seun Apara of Thisday, D'banj says he's still single because he hasn't found the right woman.
D'banj tells Seun:
"I have dated a lot of women but I don't really want to talk about them because most of them have moved on and some are married. I don't have any regret at all because I am still young and I am still a bachelor though my mum wants me to settle down. She is proud of me and I do let her understand that it's not that I don't want to marry, I just haven't found the right woman. If she finds the right one for me, she can call me.

Lilian Akiyesi's camp responds to the Ezinne story

Lilian Akiyesi's camp responds to the Ezinne story

Below is a mail that was sent to me by a close family friend of Lilian Akiyesi, responding to the recent revelation that Solomon Akiyesi was married to another woman called Ezinne before marrying Lilian.
I am very close friends with Lilian's family and have decided to respond to this shocking and unfair accusation. Lilian met Solomon as a little and naïve girl in 2001. There was no one married to Solomon as at then. Down the line, Solomon got married to Ezinne who said she was pregnant as at then. Lilian moved on with her life. Years later, Solomon and his family came to ask for Lilian's hand in marriage claiming that their son was deceived into marriage as Ezinne was never pregnant and was infact confirmed in the hospital to have damaged her womb a long time ago. On investigation, Solomon's family said all rites have been retrieved and dissolved of the marriage which was based on deceit.
Continue...

After some time, Lilian and Solomon got married. Ezinne has never called Lilian for a warning or otherwise. Never! But rather Lilian put a call to her when she suddenly heard Ezinne was claiming to still be married to Solomon. On that shock, Lilian had her lawyer call Ezinne...who asked Ezinne to come up with a certificate or evidence to show they have not been divorced so that Lilian can move on with her life. But Ezinne refused to show up, even after several calls. Today out of nowhere, she comes out to give a wrong picture of Lilian. Where was she all this while? What sort of woman will sit back and watch her husband wed someone else without doing anything about it...if truly her hands are clean? Lilian wouldn't be that stupid to go as far as she did on saturday, had she any reason to believe he was married to someone else asides her. Lilian married Solomon as a very young and sincere girl, never out of desperation. I think the damage is enough already. It's obvious the intention is just to bring Lilian down.

Letter addressed to Obama tests positive for ricin – FBI

Letter addressed to Obama tests positive for ricin – FBI

WASHINGTON – A letter addressed to US President Barack Obama tested positive for ricin in a drama over poisoned mail spreading alarm in Washington, which was already on edge Wednesday after the Boston bombings.
The FBI said there was no connection between the letter sent to Obama and detected at a remote mail facility, and another mailed to Republican Senator Roger Wicker, and the blasts at the Boston marathon which killed three people.
After preliminary tests on the Obama letter showed traces of ricin, further examinations will be carried out over the next 24 to 48 hours, the FBI said.
The US Secret Service said the letter to Obama had been intercepted at a mail screening facility outside the White House on Tuesday, the same day authorities said a letter was sent to Wicker that also showed traces of ricin.
Ricin — a highly toxic protein found in castor beans — can, when inhaled, cause respiratory problems. Ingested orally, it is lethal in even miniscule quantities.
Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan said the agency, which protects the president and his family, was working closely with the US Capitol Police and the FBI to trace the origins of the letter.
NBC News cited unidentified government sources as saying that officials believed they knew who sent the letters, reportedly with a Tennessee postmark, but that no arrests had been made pending further tests.
The FBI said in a statement that a filter at a second mail facility had tested positive for ricin, and warned that more letters could be received.
But it added: “There is no indication of a connection to the attack in Boston.”
The White House deflected inquiries on the incident to the FBI and the Secret Service.
Senator Carl Levin meanwhile issued a statement saying one of his staffers had discovered a “suspicious-looking letter” at a regional office in Michigan and handed it over to authorities for further investigation.
Adding to nervousness in the US capital, two Senate office buildings were briefly cordoned off amid reports of a suspicious package but were reopened after the all-clear was given.
US Capitol Police confirmed one man was being questioned.
“Right now they are interviewing a person but that person is not in custody. He has not been detained,” a US Capitol Police officer told AFP.
Republican Senator Jim Risch told AFP that everyone on Capitol Hill was perpetually as “vigilant as they can be” and that such scares had been part of life for many years.
The poisoned mail episodes recalled the mysterious series of letters laced with anthrax sent to lawmakers and some journalists following the September 11 attacks in 2001, which killed five people and sickened 17 others.
Congressional mail has been screened off-site since the 2001 incident.
Three Senate office buildings were shut in 2004 after tests found ricin in mail that had been sent to the Senate majority leader’s office.
The biological agent was also sent to the White House and the Department of Transportation in November 2003. There were no injuries in those incidents.(AFP)

The NYSC trousers/Osun hijab controversy

The NYSC trousers/Osun hijab controversy

The NYSC trousers/Osun hijab controversy
Wale Sokunbi CURRENTS
walesokunbi2010@yahoo.com

What is in a uniform? Ordinarily, a uniform is nothing but clothing used by a particular group of people to identify them and distinguish them from other groups in a particular area. The Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English (Third Edition, Year 2000) reinforces this view with its description of a uniform as “a particular type of clothing worn by all members of a group or organisation such as the police, the army etc.”
Lately, the simple affair of differentiation of members of a group by a uniform has become an instrument of protest that has been hitting headlines across the country. For the NYSC, a corps member identified as Miss Damilola Tolulope Ekundayo, a Zoology graduate of the Lagos State University, hit the limelight in March when she stoutly resisted wearing the trousers prescribed and provided by the National Youth Service Corps for all graduates of tertiary institutions undergoing orientation at orientation camps spread across the country.
Apparently wanting to make a point on the impropriety of the imposition of a uniform consisting of trousers and shirts on NYSC members when some of them may not want to wear trousers because of their religious faith, Ekundayo preferred to be sent out of the orientation camp in Ogun State, to wearing the NYSC trousers alongside the thousands of corps members mobilized for Batch A of the 2013 service year. All efforts to make her change her mind by camp officials failed, and she was promptly sent out of the camp. That batch of NYSC members have since concluded their orientation and are now working in the various places they were deployed. It is not clear what has happened to the decamped Ekundayo since then, but it is unlikely that she will join her colleagues in serving the country for as long as she maintains her no-trousers policy.
In Osun State, where Governor Rauf Aregbesola has had a charge of nursing a plan to Islamize the State hanging on his neck for some months now, some Muslim residents and associations in the state have also been in the news for insisting that female Muslim students in the state should be allowed to wear hijab, which is a type of veil used by Muslim women, on top of their school uniforms. This demand of the Muslims, which has been in the news since the time of the state’s former governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, came to a head sometime ago when a Muslim student in a public school, I think, Baptist Secondary School in the state, came to the school in hijab and was immediately sent home by a teacher.
Reports indicate that some aggrieved Muslims thereafter stormed the school and beat up the teacher. Since then, the campaign for Muslim students to be allowed to wear hijab to school has increased, and the matter is now before a court as some Muslim organisations in the state try to obtain a court declaration supporting the move of Muslim organisations to make Muslim children wear hijabs on their uniforms when going to public schools. For me, the wearing of trousers by NYSC members, and the use of hijab on school uniforms by female Muslim students in Osun State, should not be a matter for rancour and unnecessary controversy. There are clearly much more serious issues, such as the poor state of the education sector, unemployment, dilapidated infrastructure and poor access to potable water and health care that should be engaging the attention of well meaning Nigerians.
The wearing or not wearing of trousers and the manner of uniform worn by school pupils should not be a big issue in our troubled country. Concerning Corps member Damilola Ekundayo, her courage in standing firm on her resolve not to wear trousers is admirable. It is good for anyone to be able to stand on his/her convictions and be ready to pay a price for it. Moreover, it is through such individual revolt to accepted norms that fundamental and revolutionary changes have been effected in society. But then, the decision of Ekundayo to refuse to wear the NYSC trousers after signing an undertaking to abide by the dress code prescribed for the scheme raises many questions. First, there is the fact that the scheme is guided by a law which says all participants must wear the prescribed uniform. Indeed, as the NYSC Co-ordinator in Ogun State, Mrs Theresa Anosike explained, Ekundayo’s refusal to wear the uniform contradicts Section 3 subsection (h) of the scheme’s 2012 bylaws.
Her outright refusal to abide by the camp rule on the wearing of the uniform was, therefore, also a threat to discipline in the camp. While I respect this young lady’s resolve to rather leave the camp than wear trousers, I think the NYSC is right to insist that all corps members must wear the prescribed uniform. It will be clearly inexpedient to allow any single corps member or group of corps members to dictate a uniform to the NYSC. This is more so as there are many religions in Nigeria and corps members of each faith cannot be allowed to dictate their preferred uniform to the NYSC. Instead of the “one-girl” approach to the demand for a change in the NYSC uniform, groups of corps members or religious institutions which have reservations about their female members wearing trousers can petition the government and call for a review of the current uniform, clearly outlining their case.
The change in the Corps uniform cannot be achieved through civil disobedience by individual corps members. Although trousers may appear best suited to the physical activities Corps members engage in, the government may decide to allow use of skirts, if the anti-trousers campaigners go through the right channels. On the Osun State hijab on uniform controversy that has been interpreted in some quarters to be a fallout of Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s inclination towards “Islamization” of the state, it is clearly inexpedient to allow this needless controversy to jeopardize the peaceful relationship between Christians and Muslims in the state. Since Nigeria is said to be a secular country, there is really no need for any person or group of persons to insist on wearing of religious items to public schools, and the governor must avoid any body language that encourages adherents of his religion to start demanding special wears. The wisdom of maintaining secularity in the matter of school uniforms can be deduced from the problem that could arise when adherents of all religions in the state start demanding all kinds of “spiritual” wears.
What, for instance, would the government do, if the adherents of Osun religion begin demanding wearing of white uniforms only, with white beads to school? Or, children of Sango worshippers, in another instance, insist on wearing red caps to school, with earrings in the ears of their boys? What again, if Sango male worshippers insist on wearing braided hair to school as we see depicted by Sango priests in some home videos? If I were Governor Aregbesola, I will, while recognizing the legitimacy of the demand for hijab, both publicly and privately appeal to all religious leaders in the state to let us maintain true uniformity of school uniforms, in the interest of peace. This hijab on uniform controversy is a needless one.
Let school uniforms be just what they are – uniforms designed to ensure uniformity in the appearance of school pupils. They should not be used as instruments by anybody to divide the hitherto peaceful state along religious lines. Let my good people of the State of Osun place more emphasis on the things that unite them as a state, and not the ones that divide them

PDP offered me N3bn to impeach Okorocha – Uwajumogu

PDP offered me N3bn to impeach Okorocha – Uwajumogu

PDP offered me N3bn to impeach Okorocha – Uwajumogu

The Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Mr Benjamin Uwajumogu, yesterday alleged that the elder brother to the impeached deputy governor Jude Agbaso and some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had offered him N3 billion to facilitate the impeachment of the state Governor, Rochas Okorocha.
Speaking during an interview with journalists in Owerri, the Imo State capital, Uwajumogu, alleged that the millionaire businessman, the PDP national vice chairman (South East), Col. Augustine Akobundu and other high ranking PDP members, promised to give him the money if he would facilitate the impeachment of Okorocha to pave way for his deputy, Jude Agbaso to become the governor of the state.
According to him: “Sometime in August, 2012, the elder brother to the former deputy governor, invited me for a meeting to assist me in the attempt by the PDP hierarchy to remove me from office.
“I attended the meeting with him in Anambra State in the house of a businessman, with other high ranking PDP members in attendance including the current South East national vice chairman of the PDP in attendance.
“I was jolted at the meeting when I was told that the Presidency had directed that impeachment proceedings be initiated against Governor Okorocha to remove him from office, so that the then deputy governor, Sir Jude Agbaso could take over.
The sum of N3billion was offered to me and adequate protection.
I now asked them to give me the evidence that was required to impeach the governor and up till today they have not given me any required evidence.” Uwajumogu further revealed that “while the elder brother to the impeached deputy governor was trying to sponsor the impeachment move, Okorocha learnt of it and confronted him and myself. I owned up but having heard their discussion and there was no evidence, I didn’t think it was anything to worry about.”
The Speaker also denied any reports that the impeachment of the deputy governor was predetermined, pointing out that, “I am actually surprised by some of the information being released. If there was any predetermined impeachment action, it was to be against the governor, which was to be sponsored by the elder brother to the impeached deputy governor and the PDP in line with the directives of the Presidency.”
But when contacted, Akobundu, stated that, “I am not aware of what he (Speaker) is talking about. I am a member of the opposition in the state and can’t be talking about impeachment. The PDP is concerned with restoring good governance in the state.”
Also speaking, the state Public Secretary of the PDP, Chief Blyden Amajirionwu, described the Speaker’s claim as unfounded and total falsehood. He said that, “the PDP is not interested in the impeachment of Okorocha because if he is impeached, the PDP will not take over. We are working to win the next election and restore good governance in the state. The PDP will remove Okorocha during the next general election.
We are not talking about impeachment.” However, in his reaction, Agbaso’s brother simply said, “I am not sure the Speaker can say anything like that.”
